I'm back!

So, last year was the longest and shortest year all packed into one! My change in district, school, and grade levels left me very busy playing catch-up all year, but I am ready to hit this year and begin sharing my new adventure with you.

Here is my first activity. My district offers a summer 'Tech Tune-up' course. One of the expectations was to use a new tech tool to tell about your summer or introduce yourself. I chose to use Adobe Spark. It is online presentation tool. It allows you to create one page, multi-page, or video presentations. It is kind of a mix of Haiku Deck and Animoto (if you are familiar with those tools) all wrapped into one. Adobe Spark is fairly easy to navigate once you understand what media you can add to the different options (Post, Page, or Video).

iTech conference

For those of you in the tri-state area (of Cincinnati), there will be a iTech conference at Redwood in Northern Kentucky. It will be similar to the iLearn conference from April, but only a half day. It will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 9:00-12:30. I will be discussing using iDevices for academic/classroom support. Click here for registration. See below for details...

iLearn Conference

On April 2, 2011, I had the to opportunity to speak at The iLearn Conference: iPad, iPod, and iPhone in the Real World. It was sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, Redwood, and United Cerebral Palsy  of Greater Cincinnati. The conference focused on the recent "iTechnology" and how they can be used with students. My presentation was on Using the iPad in the Classroom. The presentation was done in collaboration with my partner intervention specialist (grades 3-5). The presentation focused on how we got started with the iPad, what apps we have used within the classroom, and the impact and reaction we have seen by the students.  If you go to the included link, you can access all the presentations from that day.

I would definitely suggest you check out the section "smackdown results". These are compilations of the ideas/questions shared during the presentations and the "share" time after each presentation. It includes some basic "how to's" of using the iPad, use of suggested apps not listed within the presentation, and some discussions on accessories.
